Drawing from Japan’s rich tradition of music and performance, Taikoza has created a new sound using a variety of traditional instruments. In addition to the Japanese taiko drum, Taikoza incorporates bamboo flutes, colorful dances and audience participation to create an exciting program. Taikoza has recently been seen on ESPN’s Sumo Tournament at Madison Square Garden, the History Channel, THE LAST SAMURAI dvd set, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Taikoza is featured on the award-winning score for RED STEEL, the new Nintendo Wii video game. Taikoza regularly tours in Europe and has many recordings available through their website, www.taikoza.com. TAIKOZA: BEGINNINGS was nominated for best album for the 2004 JPP awards.

Taikoza: Japanese Taiko Drumming
Taikoza presents a unique and exciting program using Japanese Taiko drums and bamboo flutes. Students will take a journey through the seasons and festivals of Japan. Taikoza opens students' eyes to the richness of Japanese culture and encourages further study of Japan and its music and culture. The students will understand the importance of practicing and team work when creating a program by themselves. Also available as a Family or evening performance. Call for details.

Technical Requirements
Bottled water is appreciated; artists will arrive 45 min. prior to start time to set up. Please provide dolly or flat cart to carry instruments. Performance Space: Minimum 20 feet wide and 12 feet deep; the group is flexible as to odd shape of stages; Artists require 2 microphones: 1 high stand and 1 low stand. If these cannot be provided please inform Young Audiences of Rochester.
